The Israelites in the Old Testament had a lot of ups and down with the Lord. God would show them mercy and they would rejoice momentarily then fall back into the same ungodly behavior. But God still showed them favor they didn't deserve but there is a point where that favor ran out which is good reminder to the Church, especially those who live their lives offending God then show up to church on Sundays pretending they are godly. Believers must understand our blessings are not earned they are simply God's favor upon us because He loves us. Our obedience brings about blessings but we need to take Israel's example serious. We can't expect God to bless us when we walk away from Him in heart.
